Our story

Three product lines, one product

Dawaco, Datalab and BROLab each grew out of a distinct need in groundwater management. In Dawaco Phrea™ they come together.

  1. October 2026

    Dawaco Phrea™

    The new version of Dawaco, developed by Dawaco B.V. and HydroS Consult. One web-based platform that replaces Dawaco GW, Datalab and BROLab: one system for your entire monitoring network, from well to registry.

  2. 31-12-2022

    Dawaco B.V.

    Dawaco B.V. takes over the Dawaco activities from Royal HaskoningDHV. Software, support and development come under one roof.

  3. 2019

    BRO implementation team

    Waterlabs joins the implementation team for the Dutch Key Register of the Subsurface (BRO) and helps more than 100 data holders with their BRO deliveries. That hands-on experience goes into every BRO function we build.

  4. 2013

    A partnership

    Realworld Systems and Waterlabs start working together to develop and market groundwater solutions.

  5. 2012

    Water Office

    Realworld Systems releases the first version of Water Office.

  6. 2009

    Datalab

    Waterlabs releases the first version of Datalab, a system for managing groundwater data.

  7. 1990s

    The first Dawaco

    Royal Haskoning releases the first version of Dawaco. Network managers use it to record, validate and manage the data from their monitoring networks.

We listened closely to our users. What they valued, we kept: everything in one package, groundwater levels and quality together, a responsive helpdesk. What they missed, we built.

Dawaco in 2026

Dawaco has grown from looking after one trusted monitoring system into a software company. Here is what we have built, with dates.

  1. Aquatech in Amsterdam and the Water Info Dag in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
  2. User days for Groundwater and Ecologie, a new TWN import module, a new brand identity and a product video.
  3. Dawaco Phrea™ available.

  • The product

    A new version of our software, developed together with our German partner HydroS Consult. Dawaco Phrea™ brings the best of Dawaco GW, Datalab and BROLab together in one web-based platform, as SaaS or on your own server, with your data in the EU.

  • Science inside the product

    Pastas, the scientific open-source engine for time-series analysis, is built into the product: integrated, not bolted on. Time-series models explain groundwater levels from precipitation, evaporation and abstraction, on the same measurements you validate. Spatial groundwater modelling and 3D visualisation are on the roadmap.

  • The same team, more services

    A Dutch team in Culemborg, with a German development partner. For existing customers nothing changes in who helps you. We also offer fully managed monitoring networks, from field to registry: logger read-out, validation and delivery.

Mission and vision

Every drop counts.

Groundwater is a shared resource, and you can only manage it well if you measure it well. We build the software and deliver the services that drinking-water companies, provinces, water boards, municipalities, environmental agencies and consultancies use to record, validate and deliver their monitoring data, so that decisions about water rest on data that holds up.

Vision. Good water management starts with data that is right. That is why we bring hydrological expertise and modern technology together in one partner, from fieldwork to registry, so the hydrologist spends their time on judgement, not on correcting.
