Dawaco Phrea™ · from well to registry, in one system
One groundwater system, from well to registry.
Dawaco Phrea™ is the new version of Dawaco and the successor to Dawaco GW, Datalab and BROLab. Data management, validation, lab quality, time-series modelling with Pastas (also for everyone who worked with Menyanthes), an AI assistant and delivery to the Dutch Key Register of the Subsurface (BRO) all run on one data model. Developed by Dawaco B.V. and HydroS Consult, available from October 2026.

What Dawaco Phrea™ is
Three systems become one product
Dawaco Phrea replaces Dawaco GW, Datalab and BROLab and brings the best of all three together in one web-based platform, built on thirty years of domain knowledge. One system for your entire monitoring network, from well to registry.
- Dawaco GW
- Datalab
- BROLab
One data model · available from October 2026
Here, data management, time-series modelling and the AI assistant are not three systems joined by interfaces but one product. Loggers, fieldwork, lab results, models and BRO documents share one data model. Nothing is exported from one package into another, and no second version of the truth appears. And it runs where you want it: as SaaS or on your own server, with your data in the EU.
Dawaco invested in this new version of its software, developed together with its German partner HydroS Consult: a new web interface, Pastas, the scientific open-source calculation engine for time-series analysis, built into the product and an AI assistant that works on your own measurements. The result is a software product, with a helpdesk and support.
Working with Dawaco GW, Datalab or BROLab today? Counted first, compared after: a trial migration with a comparison report shows what came across, and what did not and why. Then comes one planned cutover. The same team, the same support.
How the switch worksWhy one product
-
Answers with sources
Answers from your own measurements, with a chart, a source and a caveat. The judgement stays with the hydrologist.
-
Checked before it leaves
Your well history reaches the BRO the way the BRO expects it. Every document is checked before it goes to the national registry.
-
Nothing forgotten after delivery
You never have to track yourself what changed after a delivery. GMW and GLD as standard; GMN, GAR and FRD as an add-on module.
Some functions are available as an add-on module.
Six steps, one data model
What you validate is what the model reads, what the assistant analyses and what goes to the BRO. Every step works on the same data.
Step 1 · Collect
Measurements arrive by themselves
Logger readings come in without manual work and flow through to the BRO: first as a provisional series, final after your validation. You see at a glance which measuring points need attention.
- Field rounds and manual readings with the FieldForm field app.
- Import any supplier file safely, and roll it back if you need to.
Step 2 · Validate
Your measurement stays your measurement
Every correction carries a reason and can always be undone. So you can always show how a validated level came about.
- Automated checks and an AI review point you to what needs attention. You decide.
Step 3 · Quality
Lab quality next to your levels Module
Laboratory results live in the same system as your groundwater levels. You test against the standards you choose and see exceedances at a glance.
- The familiar hydrochemical diagrams, such as Piper and Stiff.
- Nothing from the lab goes missing unnoticed, and GAR delivery to the BRO comes from the same system.
Step 4 · Model
Time-series models on your own measurements Module
With Pastas, the scientific open-source engine for time-series analysis, Phrea explains groundwater levels from precipitation, evaporation and abstraction, and looks ahead with an uncertainty band. The model reads the same series you validate: no export, no second version of the truth.
- No scripts: you build, calibrate and assess a model with the mouse.
- Model and well are linked to the map in both directions.
- Build models for many wells at once, and keep them current.
For everyone who worked with Menyanthes
Did you work with Menyanthes? Phrea gives Pastas a complete interface, with your map alongside.
The freely available version of Menyanthes is no longer supported. Pastas continues the time-series method behind Menyanthes as open source, but it is driven by Python scripts. Pastas in Dawaco Phrea™: a complete graphical interface with your map alongside. No programming.
- No scriptsChoose a well and Phrea builds the model on your own measurements, with precipitation and evaporation included.
- The map belongs to itModel and well are linked to the map both ways: from model to well, and from well to model.
- Open, so never locked inEvery model exports to Pastas’ own file format, so you can always continue in Python.
Menyanthes could read data from Dawaco, among other sources. In Phrea nothing needs to move: measurement and model live in the same system.
Time-series modelling is available as a module, from October 2026.
Menyanthes and Pastas are named here descriptively. Dawaco is not affiliated with the makers or rights holders of Menyanthes, nor with the Pastas project.
Step 5 · Ask
Questions in plain language, answers from your own data
The AI assistant answers questions from your own measurement data, with charts, maps, cited sources and caveats. The judgement stays with the hydrologist: the assistant supports, but does not replace professional judgement.
Questions as you would ask a colleague, for example:
- Which wells in this area have fallen the most since 2015?
- Show the GHG and GLG of this well on a map.
- Which samples fail the ion balance?
- AI processing within the EU, switchable on or off per module and per user.
Step 6 · Deliver
The BRO chain, both ways
Your own records are the source, the BRO is the output. Your well history reaches the BRO the way the BRO expects it, and everything is checked before it leaves.
- Compare your records with the BRO and decide what is right.
- Every correction the BRO allows, made from your own records.
- You never have to track yourself what changed after a delivery.
GMW and GLD as standard; GMN, GAR and FRD as an add-on module.

What one product changes
The only platform in which data management, time-series modelling and an AI assistant are one product.*
Based on our own market verification, July 2026: no other commercial platform combines an AI assistant, time-series modelling and the full BRO chain in one product, with GMW and GLD as standard and GMN, GAR and FRD as modules.
Our standard
Six requirements we hold ourselves to
What Dawaco Phrea has to meet, from your own database to the BRO.
- Your own database as the source, the BRO as an outputRegister, deliver, retrieve and correct from one administration. Compare your data with the BRO and decide for yourself what is right.
- Your well history as the BRO expects itEvery document checked before it leaves, so the national registry receives what it expects.
- Never track yourself what changed after deliveryWhatever changes after a delivery is ready to be delivered again, without a manual list.
- Your raw measurement always keptEvery correction carries a reason and can always be undone.
- Models on your own measurements, not on exportsTime-series analysis with Pastas on the same data you manage, with no programming.
- An AI that computes on your data and cites its sourcesAnswers from your own measurements, with charts, maps and cited sources. The judgement stays with the hydrologist.

Which BRO object types does Phrea support?
GMW, GMN, GLD, GAR and FRD. GMW and GLD are included as standard; GMN, GAR and FRD are available as an add-on module.
Where is my data stored?
As SaaS on Microsoft Azure in Europe, or on your own server. Your data stays in the EU, including for AI processing.
Does the AI assistant replace the hydrologist?
No. The assistant answers questions from your own measurement data, with charts, maps and cited sources. The judgement stays with the hydrologist.
When is Phrea available?
Dawaco Phrea™ is available from October 2026.
Is Dawaco Phrea™ an alternative to Menyanthes?
Yes, for time-series analysis of groundwater levels. Phrea uses Pastas as its calculation engine and gives it a complete graphical workspace with the map alongside. It is not a new version of Menyanthes, and not a copy: you work in one product that also covers your monitoring network, validation and BRO delivery. Time-series modelling is available as a module.
